About Marco Muetze: Authenticity, Rhythm & Roots of the Artform

My home in dance is far more than just a passion—it is a calling rooted in Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, and Charleston. My journey is defined by the commitment to remain at the core of the JazzRoots family (the African American dances of the Swing era) and to preserve and evolve this culture with respect and creativity.

A Multi-Faceted Profile

I view myself as a holistic contributor to the swing world. My work encompasses a variety of roles that constantly inspire one another:

Dancer & Performer: Bringing an expressive presence to both the stage and the social dance floor. I work together with Beatrice Neagu (B) and other local and international dancers.
Teacher: Sharing technique, history, and the authentic “spirit” of afroamerican swing dances. Sharing my knowledge about rare known material like “Savoy ShimSham”
DJ & Event Organizer: over 25 years expirience as DJ & organizer. I organize social evenings and workshop to for my local Zürich community, organizing festivals that bring the global community together.
Community Building & Art Supporting: It is a personal mission of mine to strengthen the scene sustainably, and support our keepers of original knowledge and nurture new talent, ensuring the energy of these dances is passed on to the next generation. I run several webpages, the community calender www.swingdanceevents.ch as example.

Mentorship & Mastery

A defining milestone in my development has been deepening my connection to the source of the dance. Today, I am honored to have the legendary Chester Whitmore as my mentor. Under his direct guidance, I study more than just steps; I work to understand the profound history and the soul of Jazz and the dances.

Foundation & Education

Before focusing my training directly with the masters of the craft, I built a solid foundation through years of intensive study. Alongside countless international workshops and festivals across Europe and Asia at Advanced+ and Invitational levels, my understanding was shaped by dedicated weekly classes with:

Creativity through Vernacular Tap

In addition to my other styles, I am deeply committed to Tap Dancing (Vernacular Tap), learning from world-class instructors. For me, Tap is not an isolated discipline but a catalyst for creativity. Integrating Tap elements into Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, and Charleston allows me to craft complex rhythms and redefine dance as a living form of communication.
